Not Here For Perfection is a collection of paper collages created as a means of healing from the heartbreak caused by losing some of my closest friendships in 2021. Each piece reflects a season in the year corresponding with an element that represents each stage of processing losing loved ones who are still alive.
At this time, I was coping with the rise of Asian American hate in the U.S., concerned for my and other Asian American communities, and was contending with the upsetting and surprising fact that none of my friends were present and expressive of their solidarity with me as one of their few (or only) Asian American best friend(s).
